The Bridge Academy is fully committed to inclusion. All Young Learners at the Bridge Academy are offered help, advice and support if they have ‘special educational needs’. That is they have a learning difficulty or disability that makes it harder for them to learn than most children of the same age. This difficulty may be academic (e.g. reading or spelling), emotional, social, behavioural or physical.
The SEN department has a dedicated team of learning support assistants who provide young learners with positive and effective in-class support in subject areas across the curriculum. Specifically targeted support is identified through Individual Learning Plans and these are reviewed with parent/carers and learners every term.
Learners who require additional support with literacy are given one to one sessions to improve reading skills and are selected to participate in the Catch-Up literacy scheme.
